June, 2021.- The latest accusations from the United States (repeated year by year), that Cuba is a country that does not collaborate in the fight against terrorism, is a story that most of humanity does not believe.
It is a failed strategy that they use to divert the world’s attention from the true sponsors of terrorism and to justify the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.
This assertion that the United States government is a perverse liar was demonstrated this Wednesday at the UN General Assembly when a new resolution calling for an end to the blockade was adopted with the support of 184 of its member states.
Only the United States and Israel voted against the lifting of the siege, who were isolated before the claim of the majority of the international community, while three abstentions were registered in the vote, including Colombia (along with Brazil and Ukraine).
The position of the government of Iván Duque in the vote in the United Nations General Assembly against the United States’ blockade of the largest of the Antilles, was described as ‘shameful’ by the former president of Colombia Ernesto Samper (1994-1998).
In a shameful decision, the Colombian government abstained, along with two other countries, from accompanying
the 184 countries that asked at the UN to lift the inhumane economic blockade that the US has maintained against Cuba for several years. One more contribution to the black history of foreign policy, he said through his Twitter account.
Since 1992, the main deliberative organ of the United Nations has categorically requested the lifting of the blockade imposed by Washington 62 years ago.
In a cable from Prensa Latina, dated this Wednesday at the United Nations, it states: More than 15 nations and international organizations such as the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries, the Group of 77 plus China and the Caribbean Community denounced the damage caused by this mechanism. and demanded their end.
Diplomats and senior representatives of different countries condemned the increase in hostile policy and the increase in unilateral coercive measures that the United States Government promoted against Cuba in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Precisely as a result of the health crisis, the presentation of the draft resolution Need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba could not be held in the General Assembly last year and was postponed until this date.
In that international photo, the island’s foreign minister, Bruno Rodríguez, once again demanded that they let them live in peace and without blockade, as well as that the persecution of their commercial and financial ties with the world cease.
When presenting the draft resolution that calls for the end of this siege, he also affirmed that this policy has ended up discrediting and isolating the United States itself.
He also demanded an end to manipulation, discrimination and an end to the obstacles to the ties of Cubans living in the northern nation with their relatives in Cuba and with their homeland.
The United States persists unsuccessfully in the siege against Cuba. Since November 1992, the UN General Assembly has spoken out every year against Washington’s coercive measure, reflected in an almost unanimous vote in favor of the elimination of the economic, commercial and financial blockade.
