Apotheosis start of spring in eastern Cuba (+ Photos)

By Lázaro David Najarro Pujol

March, 2021.- Since Sunday, March 21, spring began in Cuba as in other nations of the intertropical zone of the Northern Hemisphere. The morning and early afternoon were characterized by a radiant sun and the convergence of breezes.

Closing the afternoon a prolonged downpour, accompanied by strong winds, took a total turn at the close of a beautiful afternoon. The heavy rain in the patrimonial Cuban city of Camagüey, became an outbreak of a Severe Local Storm that also included the Las Tunas and Holguín provinces. The deluge was accompanied by falling hail and strong winds with gusts of more than 80 km / h.

The flowers began to take on a splendid color. Children, adolescents and young people began to enjoy the hail fall
Some say that with the arrival of spring the days will be longer, the rains abundant, as well as the flowers and fruits. Farmers intensify planting of products. According to experts, the Earth is in the center of the Sun’s orbit and it crosses the celestial equator to the north.

At the spring equinox the dates change depending on the region:

In the Northern Hemisphere, between March 19 and 21.

In the southern hemisphere, between September 22 and 23.

In the intertropical zone of the Northern Hemisphere, on March 21.

In the intertropical zone of the southern hemisphere, on September 23.

It is clear that the equinox comes from the Latin words eaquus which means equal and nox which means night. That is, during the equinox, night and day have the same duration for all points on Earth. (Photos by the author)(Translated by Linet Acuña Quilez)
