Outstanding in Camagüey is that 9th Congress of Cuban intellectuals is conducive to constructive dialogue

Camagüey, Cuba, Mar 1st.- The 9th Congress of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), to be held from June 28 to 30, will foster a truly constructive dialogue and exchange between creators, cultural institutions and society about the safeguarding of the nation’s cultural roots.
This was emphasized in the city of Camagüey, the President of the provincial subsidiary of UNEAC, Sergio Morales Vera, in the usual meeting Peña de Peña, a space for congratulation, in which attends the most representative of the artistic work of the City of the Tinajones, expalind the information published in the national portal of the institution.
Morales recalled that the Congress will end just the day to commemorate the 57th anniversary of the memorable speech known as Words to the Intellectuals, when the commander-in-chief Fidel Castro defined the principles of the cultural policy of the Revolution in an encounter with the Cuban artistic avant-garde in the auditorium of the José Martí National Library, Havana, on June 30th, 1961.
The poet also pointed out that after the meeting of Fidel with the intellectuals took place the birth of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, presided by the poet Nicolás Guillén, on August 22, 1961 to protect the project of social justice and national independence that began with the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959.
Among songs and poems, it was recognized the work carried out during last year by the members of the UNEAC that were born in the month of February, dialogue that also served to expose the individual projects that will be plotted for the current year, stage in which opens a new page after the celebration of the 9th Congress of the organization.
The attendees evoked the thought of Cuba’s national hero, Jose Martí, who defined that «love is the bond of men, the way of teaching and the center of the world» and highlighted the resounding success of the Cuban people in the constitutional referendum that submitted to the approval of the Last February 24th.
