Madiba House, a reverence to equality and inclusion

Camagüey, Cuba, Dec 5.- The so-called Casa Madiba, a non-state guesthouse, honors African culture, and especially Nelson Mandela (1918-2013), a South African activist who led the anti-apartheid movements.

It is located in República Street, the most important commercial artery in the city of Camagüey, whose historical center is the Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

In the portal of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) it is emphasized that each of its eight rooms bear the names of personalities who fought the sad scourge of discrimination, a tribute to their ideas.

When you arrive at the guesthouse the visitor will find a beautiful mural that ensures that the place does not constitute a cult to any race because its doors open proudly for all human beings, but if it is a cry of protest against the racial, sexual, by gender or by religion prejudice.

Amaury Vázquez Villalón, the owner, says that Casa Madiba promotes the Afro culture, Latin jazz and traditional music of the Largest of the Antilles.

It becomes space to highlight the most genuine of the culture, with performances of groups like Rumbatá and the Folkloric Ballet of Camagüey.

The house also reverences equality, inclusion and equity defended by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro and Nelson Mandela-Madiba, who became president of South Africa, among other personalities.
