A favor de la conservación de naturaleza exposición de fotógrafo estadounidense inaugurada en Camagüey

Camagüey, Cuba, 24 de mar.- En un manifiesto por la conservación de paisajes idílicos que por su propia vastedad e inhospitalidad, resultaban casi inalcanzables para la mayoría de los seres humanos, deviene la exposición personal Latitudes Extremas, del fotógrafo estadounidense  Paul Murray, inaugurada anoche en esta ciudad.

Galería Larios, en  el centro histórico de la capital agramontina,  Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad, atesora una selección de 13 instantáneas de una dimensión de 20 por 13 pulgadas de las más de 400 tomadas en su recorrido de seis años por el Ártico, Antártida​ e Islandia.

El curador de la exposición Juan Carlos Mejías Ruiz en palabras al catalogo enfatizó que Paul Murray comparte “esa extraña visión del Ártico, la Antártida e Islandia,  no solo para compartir esa rara belleza, sino para llamar a atención sobre un asunto que aunque parezca lejano, nos afecta a diario desde fenómenos como el calentamiento global y todos aquellas consecuencias  asociadas”.

El especialista resaltó la impactante belleza, soledad, inmensidad e inhospitalidad de estos lugares y alertó que “algún día, por causa de la descontrolada agresión de la humanidad, estas extremas latitudes dejen de existir de la forma en que hoy se nos muestra y con ellas, nosotros mismos».

En tanto el fotógrafo estadounidense  Paul Murray reconoció que es “un viajero visual que interactúa con personas, lugares e ideas en una diversa variedad de niveles, a través de distintos planos de visión que se intersectan con el tiempo y el espacio, en estas intersecciones suelo capturar un momento y retratarlo desde mi perspectiva.

Nativo de Rothe Island y viajero empedernido. Paul es internacionalmente conocido por sus fotos a color y como talentoso periodista, su expresión en imágenes y palabras es una mezcla de los intereses de toda su vida: el arte, la literatura, la tecnología, la aviación, la vida urbana y los cambios sociales.
Al principio de su carrera, sus experiencias en fotografía y periodismo le valieron una beca en la Medill School del Instituto de Verano para Periodismo, de la Universidad del Noroeste. Esta empoderadora experiencia, combinada con la oportunidad de participar en el grupo de desarrollo acelerado de software y el grupo de trabajo y consulta de altas tecnologías de Boston, le dio la oportunidad de ampliar y enriquecer su visión y perspectivas
Su aproximación a la fotografía y la vida se mantienen abiertas, confiando en sus instintos y descartando aquello que le resulte preconcebido o discordante. El usa la tecnología para aumentar sus opciones creativas y productividad, pero esto de ninguna manera sustituye su visión y responsabilidad, Entre aquellos que lo han influenciado están los fotógrafos Dorothea Lange y Helen Levitt, la fotógrafa a luz natural Jay Maisel, el pintor y periodista Librado «Lee» Romero, el grabador y fotógrafo Walter «Rusty» Crump, y el diseñador Ken Done.
Es un firme creyente en devolver a la comunidad lo recibido, a través de su fotografía y sus escritos. Él ha aportado su talento a los esfuerzos comunitarios en numerosos lugares.
